A 2 night retreat to bring the dead of winter to life and fan the creative flame.

FEBRUARY 26 - 28, 2027

Lush Earth Oasis | Stayner, Ontario

Always wanted to try songwriting? Used to write songs?

Perhaps you still do, but not nearly as often as you'd like?

The experience includes gourmet nourishing meals, accommodations, guided songwriting, private Song Doctor sessions, creative exercises, access to amenities like the sauna and hot tub, good conversations and time to reflect and connect. Limited to 12 participants. See our Sample Schedule.

All experience levels are welcome. Bring an instrument, borrow one of ours, or write without one. You don't need to arrive with a song idea or even think of yourself as a songwriter.

A weekend escape

We'll spend the weekend with internationally recognized, award-winning singer-songwriter Matt Epp, who brings more than 20 years of writing, recording, and performing to the weekend. More about Matt here.

The weekend is built around tapping into our creativity, learning from someone who's made a life making songs, and maybe even walking away with one of your own.

and not every good idea arrives while you're sitting with a guitar...

Winter Songbook takes place at Lush Earth Oasis, a restored Victorian country house about 90 minutes from Toronto, surrounded by 5 acres of fields and old trees.

Between sessions, soak in the saltwater hot tub, warm up in the infrared sauna, take a winter walk, find a quiet corner with a notebook, or do absolutely nothing for a while.

We will do mornings a little differently...

The first few hours of the day can be some of the best for making things - before conversation gets going, before you've checked your phone or your brain has fully decided what kind of day it's going to be.

So we're protecting those mornings.

The morning will begin quietly, with coffee, tea and something light to eat. You will have the option of an early morning creative meditation, a chance to settle in, clear some space and see what wants to emerge. After the morning program with Matt Epp, we'll come together for a generous late-morning brunch, with snacks available in the afternoon and dinner shared together in the evening.
